Literature Text

They finally reached the bottom of the hill after a long walk. Vincent looked up the mountain to a little rounded figure. It was hard to see but he had a little idea of what it was. He looked over to Yuffie to see her expression. It wasn’t full of emotion like he thought it would be, but it showed a little bit of sadness.
“Yuffie…why?”
“I should tell you after me and my dad’s outburst. You need an explanation.”
“You don’t have to explain anything. If it makes you sad then there is no reason to. I understand that you don’t want to talk about it.”
“I need to tell someone though. An-and I feel comfortable telling you…” Yuffie choked.
“Yuffie,” Vincent put his arm around her, “You don’t have to show me though. Not even a full explanation. I meant it when I said that if it makes you sad there is no need to. It’s hard to see you sad. You make everything seam so cheerful.”
Yuffie looked up at Vincent, tears in eyes streaming down her face. He took his free hand and caressed her face, wiping away some tears. She smiled at him and wiped away the rest of the tears on the back of her hand. She didn’t think Vincent would care about her, she just thought of telling him because he knew her most and understood her better.
She removed his arm around herself and took the hand and led him up the hill. He still looked concerned about her, but she stopped crying, so he wasn’t as concerned. When they reached the top of the hill they stopped. Yuffie pointed to the stone and said slowly, “Go look at the writing…”
Vincent looked at her, and then walked forward. He stopped inches from the grave, which read,

Loving Wife, Loving Mother

He looked over at Yuffie. So this is what happened to the great ninja Yuffie’s mother. He walked toward her and embraced her. She started crying in his arms. It must be hard on her to have her mother taken from her at such a young age, but on her birthday? He had all these questions to ask her but with the amount of trust Yuffie gave him, he new not to ask them.
They stood there in the embrace for a couple of minuets. She then stopped crying a little and looked at Vincent in the eyes.
“Aren’t you going ask any questions?” she half sobbed.
“No.” he said, “Not if it pains you to tell.”
“She didn’t die if that is what you were wondering.” She said, looking down. “She was murdered.” She then pushed herself away from him, crying harder.
“Yuffie-” he said, thinking of ways to comfort her.
“The worst part is…” She said, sobbing. “Is that I’m the cause of it.”
Vincent pulled her toward him into a tight hug. She tried to free herself from his grip but he wouldn’t release her. She then wrapped her arms around him and cried her heart out onto his chest.
They had to sit onto the grass because it was a while till she stopped crying. Yuffie stopped crying after a few hours and Vincent wiped away the tears from her face gently. She knew that he would be the first person she would ever tell about the exact death of her mother.
“Vincent, I’m going to tell you how my mother died. I know you said that if it made me sad then I shouldn’t tell you but I feel that it would lighten the effect on me if I tell you.”
“If that is how you feel, then who am I to stand in your way?”
Yuffie looked at Vincent who looked right back at her with so much affection for her that she started to tear up again. He put his hand on her cheek and nodded.
“It was when I was six,” she started, “And well, as you can tell, it was my birthday. There was this uhh…. very old creepy house. I heard from someone that my mom was there so I went to the…how many stories was in that house…never mind, well the second to last story was where my mom was so I went there. She was standing with her back to the door when I came in. She turned around and saw me and told me to run as far away from this house has possible. I didn’t understand why but I guess I should’ve just listened because just then a man that looked a lot like Hell Masker came in. He really didn’t, he was just dressed like him…I actually think he was a waiter somewhere…any way, he started laughing and said ‘Good, now that little brat is here..’. He said a lot more but I didn’t really understand. My mom was yelling at him not to do something and…she said that she’d take my place instead. He agreed and raised the chainsaw he had and was about to slice her…Her blood got all over me. He then called her foolish because he still had to kill me anyway. He ran after me so I ran for it. I tripped and fell and he got a mark on my back, everyone thought I was gonna die in the hospital.”
Vincent looked a Yuffie like he was going to cry too. She was on the verge of tears but that didn’t stop her from continuing.
“I found out that I was the only female born under the Kisaragi name and is incapable of ruling Wuti. Not that I care or anything. I really don’t want to rule it. Just the fact that I was born killed her…”
Yuffie started crying again. She let Vincent hold her and wipe away the tears that would never end. He really cared for her, and she was grateful for that. If she had told anyone else they might not have cared as much.
He held her close until her cell phone rang and she answered it.
“Yeah?” “Oh” “Okay…” “Yeah…” “Alright, bye.”
Vincent looked at her and she said, “I have to go.”
He smiled at her and nodded. He put his arm around her and they walked down the hill and out of the old gate. They walked back to the Kisaragi pagoda, laughing and smiling all the way there.
